about GREYWOLF

 Statement of Purpose

The underlying purpose of all GREYWOLF concerts and projects is to provide arts training for teachers and students both inside and outside the university. Working through a broad spectrum of music and theatre forms that require imagining, constructing, and performing, GREYWOLF stresses first of all the act of making authentic expression. GREYWOLF also stresses the spiritual involvement of the individual which is essential to the arts and directly influences the good health of our communities.

GREYWOLF is a performing arts/educational organization whose acclaimed touring artists bring a brilliant array of concerts and arts education programs (seminars and projects) to audiences throughout the world.

GREYWOLF was first conceived during the 70s by James Drew, while on the faculty of Yale University, in response to the educational gap between pre-college students, academia, and the professional art world. In the 80s, he was joined by Mary Gae George whose work in music pedagogy aligned with his objectives.

Their original philosophy still holds today at GREYWOLF, and it is seen in a broad array of both traditional and new arts programs for adults and children presented in university and community settings.

Judging from the enthusiastic reception of audiences and critics alike, GREYWOLF is sending a strong signal light in America's culture through its highly original innovations and artistic integrity.
