James Drew's

Hypothetical Structures

James Drew and Mary Gae George, duo pianists
  • Book 1 for two pianos
  • Book 2 for two pianos and percussion
  • Book 3 for two pianos and string quartet

The   Hypothetical Structuresallow the audience to witness first-hand the drama of musical decisions created during performance. By composing a score of six brief fully notated Cambia Formas (changing forms), James Drew extends the process of theme and variations and at the same time guarantees the audience a performance unique to their concert only.

"Like Messiaen, Drew's search for the sacred is always constant."
S. Michael Brannon -- Dublin

"Drew is among the world's best composer performers."
Gruppo Rainero -- Amsterdam

"The American music tradition can't have a better representative than James Drew."
Sonda -- Madrid

 American Night Music

featuring James Drew, composer/pianist and guest artists

The current  American Night Music concerts include highly unusual chamber music settings of American Art Songs by such composers as George Gershwin, Edward Kennedy Ellington, Cole Porter, and William Strayhorn. These concerts celebrate the personally unique American spirit in Art.

"Dazzling stuff, much of it improvised."
Innerspace -- New York

CELESTIAL CABARET

CONCERTO for PIANO and CHAMBER ORCHESTRA
Composed and performed by JAMES DREW

The piano soloist improvises from notated score fragments while the conductor has extensive choices to create ever changing orchestral forms to which the soloist must instantly react. This dialectic produces an exciting performance for audience and performers alike.

"Wonderful piece, astounding performance!"
Kuang -- Hao Huang

James Drew's music is published by Theodore Presser Company and is available world wide.
