Duets played by two performers at one keyboard have long been appreciated as among the most convenient and intimate forms of chamber music. For example, in 1765 Mozartalready an innovator at the age of ninewrote the first "four-hand sonata" to perform with his beloved sister Nannerl before the great courts of Europe, showing that ensemble music can be inspired by personal as well as artistic purposes.
In this Ensemble series, original duets reminiscent of Mozart's style can be heard, along with the musical and historic idioms of other composersincluding many who did not contribute to the four-hand repertoire.
Throughout the four books in this series, the primo and secondo parts are almost always equal in difficulty and musical interest so that two students or family members can enjoy performing them together. ~ M. G. George
