|
Nicolas Slonimsky refers to American Composer James Mulcro Drew
as "an authentic original...a lone wolf...a suis generis
and until recently a still-overlooked master."
Although Drew is an American Modernist,
he has developed a powerful lyricism
which is apparent even in his most experimental works.
James Drew belongs to no school or style-
his mentors are Reigger, Varese, Ives and Eliington.
Drew's theatre works are uniquely outside of the accepted genre,
and as pianist, his solo improvisations are now legendary.
