The Sonorous Circus is coming to Town

And we want you to know that

It is Never Too Late to Join the Circus!

The American composer/playwright, James Drew, has created an ensemble called the Sonorous Circus in which children worldwide can perform new music and theatre works

(which he specially composes for them) under his personal supervision.

These modern chamber works by Drew are exotic, dramatic, theatrical, and most especially, fun for children and young adults at all levels of accomplishment – from elementary through advanced. Furthermore, these unique works bring together both traditional and modern technology, combining such ancient traditions as the gamelan orchestra with the latest developments in digital instruments.

Most significantly, Drew structures both his musical and the theatre pieces so that the students play a significant role in modifying each performance of any given work. In the process,

The students learn first hand how art is generated.

Comments on the Sonorous Circus from the MTNA National Convention held in Washington, D.C. 2001:

"These children are learning much more than the music—a very deep thinking is present."

"The high level of performance is amazing—and with only two one hour rehearsals."

"Drew’s Grand Celebration Music is absolutely beautiful, simply mesmerizing."

"When Mr. Drew asked that the two tiny gamelan gong players take a separate bow, the entire audience came to its feet with thunderous applause! The smiles on the faces of the other performers tells it all."
