Vox Organalis

Vox Organalis

Instructions for VOX ORGANALIS (Medieval term=improvised voice)

1) If there are added instruments they should play only a few tones at a time before becoming silent......then continue in the same manner.

2) Piano or Organ play all tones and change registers as repeats begin.

3) Voices establish tonal regions above and below middle C. On repeats they can change registers of groups of tones or single tones. The long Lontano tones can have shifting tones within (glissandi, etc.). Use full SATB ranges on repeats.
The Long tones should also be sub-divided into quarter, 8th, and 16th note PULSES which produce "vibrating resonances."

4) Conductor"s downbeats cue performers IN and OUT, and direct them (accel) to sustained chord goals as well as establish duration of formatas.

5) Conductor also directs shifts in dynamics i.e.  ppp<f>ppp<mf>ppp<sfz etc.

6) Duration of this work will be established by the conductor.
